Love & War brings together Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal for a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. The combination of the three actors and Bhansali’s signature period-scale filmmaking has made it one of the most anticipated Hindi releases on the 2027 calendar.
Release date and production status
Current listings give 21 January 2027 as the India release date. As with any film still moving through production and post-production, audiences should check the final announcement from the makers before making plans. The project is associated with Bhansali Productions and Jio Studios.
Love & War cast
- Ranbir Kapoor
- Alia Bhatt
- Vicky Kaushal
- Supriya Pathak
The central trio has been consistently reported. Additional supporting cast names have appeared in film databases and entertainment reports, but the makers may still clarify character names and the final billing closer to release.
Director and crew
Writer, director and producer: Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Co-writer: Ila Bedi Dutta is listed in film-credit databases. Crew listings also identify Huentsang Mohapatra as cinematographer and Subrata Chakraborty and Amit Ray in production design. These credits provide a useful picture of the creative team, though the final on-screen credits remain definitive.
What is Love & War about?
The film is described in public listings as a drama involving romance and war. A commonly reported premise centres on two military officers whose lives become intertwined with a woman, creating a complicated emotional triangle. The makers have not released a full official synopsis, so the exact plot, historical setting and character relationships should be treated as provisional until the trailer or official synopsis confirms them.
Why the film has strong audience interest
Bhansali’s films are known for elaborate production design, music-led storytelling and heightened emotional drama. Love & War also reunites Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt on screen while pairing them with Vicky Kaushal. The film’s appeal will depend on how its romance and wartime setting work together, rather than on casting alone.
